Know what  PART of the Academic Conversation you want to identify.

  • Which Disciplines?
  • Limits: Year range? Language? Narrower or Broader Aspects of the topic? Population? Methodology? Venue? Sector?

"Right Tool for the Right Job"  : Know which tool has the capacity to answer your inquiry's parameters

  • All Library Discovery Tools have strengths and weaknesses
  • Every inquiry does not require the same search tool.

 "Know what is under your cursor"

What tool are you using? e.g. which Bibliographic Index and why ?

What is the editorial bias of this particular Discovery Tool? Inclusion rule?  Search Syntax? Quality criteria?
